I can still hear the words, "Would it have been easier to do it right the first time?"
As I'm writing this now thinking back on my youngest impressionable years. I hear that question lovingly expressed at different times in my life by my Mechanical Electrical Engineer Father. Like sitting in the boat after fighting a fish and the swivel came untied because I didn't tie the knot correctly. As I'm retying a new swivel the soft loving voice over my right shoulder asks, “Would it have been easier to do it right the first time?” As a 56-year young male, I can almost hear the whisper from over 40 years ago over my right shoulder. As I am in the garage with a wrench in my hand. “Would it have been easier to do it right the first time?”
I have always realized that I was blessed and highly favored. How did I know this? Because I was blessed to hear it from the ones around me that loved and cared for me. Imagine hearing that as a small child over and over by different members of your family throughout your informative years. Being we become what we believe, see how I can in all truth state, "I only do one thing. That’s to the best of my ability, and then I repeat.”
Maybe a little more information will make this clearer.
My Dad was the first generation off the farm. He “WORKED” during his life. He wished better for me. “Work smarter not harder.” Almost a mantra from my dad to me. “You hit things with hammers not hands”. “You wipe your hands on rags, not your clothes”. “There is a tool built for all occasions, use them”.
“If you have time to fix it, you had time to do it right the first time.”
I had a paper route at a young age, so time management became something in my life very early. Having responsibility with consequences taught me early, there is an easy way and there is a hard way. I must admit it took me a while to learn the easy way may not be the best way. In this thing called life, sometimes the shortest distance between two points is not a straight line. Who knew?
I apparently see patterns sooner than most. Because of this gift I realized something very early. If something worked once, it worked. You may want to pause and reread that last sentence. You can see how that statement not understood could sound stupid. This means “when you repeat what you already know works do it like a champ.” How? 1. Because you already know it worked, now repeat it with energy. Why? 2. The energy given off in the doing of something with the power of knowing is not understood, so it is not valued. When you move with the power of knowing, the world moves with you.
If you discovered something at a young age that had a natural benefit to using, would you use it? I would think the answer to be yes, which is what I did. If I did not understand something, first I might watch, then possibly ask questions or read something about it. The desired outcome of this process would be to do it correctly. What does "correctly" mean to me? Correctly: Complete a task with the least amount of time, effort and or money combination.
As I become less young, the observable different aspects of myself have been run through processes. These processes simply became a game to me; how well can something be completed as efficiently as possible? (It is mind boggling) I discovered I would not know that answer, until I learned to do one thing. (My Best) So, the simplest, easiest and most accurate way of arriving at any point was by APPLYING myself to anything I desired. So, I only do one thing, "To the best of my ability" then repeat. I do that because “I’m selfish,” but more on that statement tomorrow.
So always due “To the best of your ability”.
Then repeat.
Success follows.
In 2023 I live on the ocean next to my daughter and her family. I designed a #1 Google ranked business I get to play in 21 hours a week. If you choose to come on this journey with me, I believe you will have thoughts you never had before. Then we change the world.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Cheers,

This week's subjects:
Monday) The only thing you have ever been able to do, is (“What Comes Next”). That’s it.
Tuesday) You’ve never been able to do something in 5 minutes. Ever.
Today) I only do one thing, “That’s to the best of my ability, and then I repeat.”
Thursday) It doesn't mean it's correct. I might learn something today that changes a perspective of me tomorrow, but it is to the best of my ability. And I do that because I’m selfish.
Friday) Once you've been hit with enough 2x4’s with spikes in them, you realize it doesn't have to get that bad before I change. It’ how we learn.
